Today with the deepist of my regret three Canadian Soldiers were killed by a road side bomb in Afghanistan. This brings the Candian death toll in the region to 111 since the offensive started. Out of respect for these 111 hero's I will not talk politics in this blog, nor will i start pointing fingures. Instead I will talk about why we must support these men and women, even if you dont support the wars their fighting. Bare in mind all opinions in this blog are solely mine. Warrent Officer Brown, Corporal O'Quinn, and Corporal Oliver died giving their life to make others lives better.
Simply said and simply put Soldiers die to defend the country they fight for. Soldiers fight to give their citizens a better life. Soldiers go through hard training to be ready to defend everyone. Soldiers give up their freedom to give you an oppertunity to have freedom. Soldiers are the ones who fought for the right for me to be posting this. The world is not as black and white as many may believe it is but there is always good and evil. In stories the good must fight and die to stop the evil from taking country. This can be reflected in today's Candian Soldiers. Canadian soldiers are in Afghanistan to defend the rights of all Afghan citizens and defeat the evil that has oppressed them for so long. The topic of how the evil was created is not to be disscussed today.
Imagine a day in a soldiers shoes for just a moment. When a soldier trains he gets 3 hours of sleep at night, IF LUCKY. Their meals are shortened and nothing close to what we get to eat in the cozyness of our homes. Somtimes they wonder if they will get there next meal. There nights are brutal, cold, and somtimes to hot. They have to put up with the elements of nature while we have to put up with the comfort of our homes. A Soldier may work up to a week straight with little or no rest at all. They have to constantly push their body's to the limit so they can perform the task at hand effectivly. Not sure if I got the message accross but as you can see Soldiers put up with a lot to defend you.
Take a moment today and think about what these brave man and women do for you. If you pray than pray for them. If your not religous than you can do other things. If you see a soldier on the street simply take 2 seconds and thank him for his service. Remember you dont have to support the wars they fight, after all they give us the freedom to choose what to support. But the least you can do is support them soldiers.
Until Next Time
